Estimate Circular Rupture Disk Protecting a Bag housing Polyurethane particles
Question
A cylindrical bag house is 12 feet tall and 4 feet in diameter. Polyurethane particles with a median diameter of 3 µm in size are filtered from an air stream at 50°C. and 1.2 bar absolute by the bag filters. Determine the diameter (m) of a circular rupture disk to protect the bag house from a deflagration if the set pressure for the rupture disk is 0.4 bar gauge and the maximum pressure allowed during the relief is 0.9 bar gauge. Barometric pressure at the plant site is normally around 745 mmHg.
