a) An inventor claims to have a device as follows: it has one inlet pipe and two outlet pipes, and is otherwise insulated (no wires, sensors, heaters). He claims to supply nitrogen at 100 C, 2 bar into the inlet and produce two output streams, half of the nitrogen heated to 150 C at 1 bar, and the other half cooled to 50 C at 1 bar. Is this device feasible?
b) A copycat inventor claims to have a device as in part a), but this time the output streams are half of the nitrogen heated to 150 C at 3 bar, and the other half cooled to 50 C at 1.5 bar. Is this copycat device feasible?
