Question
A distillation column separating ethanol and water has a feed of 1000mol/hr of a 25% mol% ethanol mix. There is a distillate product of 500mol/hr of 70% ethanol coming off the total condenser, using L/D ratio of 3.
a. Show a diagram of this process.
b. Making use of the fact that the equilibrium Yetoh = 0.7 when Xetoh = 0.6, give the concentration of ethanol in the vapor coming off tray #2? Show all the work.
