Question
1. (A) A radioactive metal atom decays by emitting an alpha particle. The alpha particles are collected as an ideal gas. The volume of the gas collected was 12.05 mL at 765 mmHg and 23°C. How many atoms decayed during the period of the experiment?
(B) You vaporize a liquid substance at 100°C and 755 mmHg. The volume of 0.548 g of vapor is 237 mL. What is the molecular weight of the substance?
2. Starting out on a trip into the mountains, you inflate the tires in your car to a recommended pressure of 3.21x105 Pa on a day when the temperature is –5.0°C. You drive to the beach, where the temperature is 28.0°C. Assume that the volume of the tire has been increased by 3%. What is the final pressure in the tires? The manufacturer of the tire recommends that you not exceed the recommended pressure by more than 10%. Has the limit been exceeded?
3. (A) One good way to treat nonideal gases is the Redlich-Kwong equation of state,
P = RT /(V-b) - a/√T(V(V+b))
where a and b are constants that depend the identity of the gas (i.e., they can be found from critical constants similar to what is done for the van der Waals equation of state, but the formulas are different). Determine the formula for the following partial derivative of the Redlich-Kwong equation of state,
(∂P/∂Vm)T
(B) Five moles of methane are confined to a container with volume 20L at 300K. Estimate the pressure using the ideal gas equation of state. Give your answer in atm.
(C) Estimate the pressure in B using the van der Waals equation of state. Give your answer in atm.
(D) Estimate the pressure in B using the Redlich-Kwong equation of state given the Redlich-Kwong constants for methane are a = 3.2 Pa m6mol2K½ and b = 2.96 × 10-5 m3mol-1. Give your answer in atm.
4. Calculate the values of the van der Waals parameters a and b for carbon monoxide using the critical constants: TC = 134 K; PC = 3.546 MPa; VC = 0.099 L/mol.
Summary
These questions belong to Chemical Engineering and they deal with radioactive decay to alpha particles, standard tire inflation and effect on temperature changes, Redlich-Kwong equation state for partial derivative and calculating van der Waals parameters for carbon monoxide. Each of these questions has been answered in the solution along with calculations.
Note: The solution is in handwritten format.

I was really stuck with my human structure assignments when I came across TheReliableTutor.com. To be honest, I was skeptical. Then I got an A in my cardiovascular systems assignment. That was the first work they did for me. From there it only got better. I am now thinking of doing my MSN and will definitely seek their help for that."
During my final year at my nursing school I was given an assignment on the steps to deal with the issue of ineffective airway clearance of post thyroidectomy patients. Obviously, I did not have much idea but when I approached the endocrine assignment expert here at HwA she guided me with the nursing interventions along with medical rationales which again helped me to gain good grades.
As an undergraduate statistics student at one of the leading institutes in Singapore I was finding it increasingly difficult keeping up with the assignments with the rest of the class. I was lost, and not in a good way, in probability, displaying data etc. That is when I found TheReliableTutor. Here the stats homework solver helped me out with all my assignments and I have been getting great reviews and grades since then.
Believe it or not I used to get C or D in my chemical engineering assignments. So when the chapters of distillation came I was really worried. But with the help of HwA, I started getting a B or an A. Then gradually when it came to the kinetics of solids, I passed with straight “Aâ€s"
I really never thought that I would get Kiwi essay writing experts online. I just searched randomly and landed on their page. There was a phone number available and I thought why not? Then I chatted with the expert and I got to know that she was also from the same university as I am in. It was kind of cool as she knew my syllabus and helped me out by writing and excellent essays which helped me get great grades.

hi can anyone help or guide me to my assignments. thanks
This solution is perfect ...thanks
Hello Allison,I love the 2nd image that you did! I also, had never heard of SumoPaint, is something that I will have to exolpre a bit! I understand completely the 52 (or so) youtube videos that you probably watched. Sometimes they have what you want, sometimes they don't! However, it is always satisfying when you are able to produce something that you have taught yourself. Great job!Debra 0 likes
