An equimolar mixture of benzene and toluene is separated in a sieve plate tower at the rate of 50 kg mole/hr. The overhead product contains 95% benzene and a bottom product of 2.4 mole% of benzene. The feed is a mixture of 3/5 vapor and 2/5 liquid. The equilibrium data is given below.
