Question
Toshiyuki Matsukawa is production manager for Tanaka Chemicals, a Japanese chemical manufacturer operating throughout Asia. He is considering a proposal to build a chemical plant in Thailand to service the growing Southeast Asian market. The project information is as follows:
The exchange rate is currently S0Bt/¥ = 0.2500 Bt/¥. The manufacturing plant will cost Bt 4 million and will take one year to construct. Assume the Bt 4 million cost will be paid in full at the end of the year (at t=1). The real value of the manufacturing plant is expected to remain at Bt 4 million throughout the life of the project. The plant is to be sold at project’s end. Production begins in one year (at t=1) with annual; revenues of Bt 1000 million per year (in nominal terms) over the 4-year life of the project. Fixed expenses are contractually fixed in nominal terms at Bt 5million each year over the life of the project. Variable costs are 90 percent of gross revenues. Assume end-of-year cash flows. The plant will be owned by a subsidiary in Thailand and will be depreciated to zero on a straight line basis. Taxes are 40% in Thailand. Annual inflation is expected to be 105 in Thailand and 5% in Japan. The required rate of return on similar projects in Thailand is 20%. Assume that the international parity conditions hold.
a. Calculate the Thai Bhat (Bt) value of this investment proposal from the local (Thai) point of view.
b. What is the nominal required rate of return for similar projects in Japan?
c. Identify the expected future spot exchange rates for each cash flow.
d. Calculate the yen value of the project from the local and parent perspective. Are the answers equivalent? Why?
Summary
The question belongs to Finance and it is about a Japanese company which wants to invest Thailand. The exchange rate between Thai currency and Japanese currency needs to be calculated. This calculation shall take into account inflation.

I never expected that I could make so many grammatical errors in my college application essay. Thankfully, I took advice from HwA before submitting the same for my college admission. I got through smooth and since then take their service.
Nuclear chemistry problems were turning into the bane of my life and i was just not able to get my head around the subject. But with the help of the nuclear chemistry assignment experts at HwA helped me understand the topics better than most of the other online assignment help services that i had used previously. It is affordable and the quality of assignment writing is definitely worth every cent I paid.
In the middle of writing my chemical engineering dissertation paper I was feeling totally lost and confused and the structure was going all over the place. The online chemical engineering dissertation help expert at TheReliableTutor totally understood my situation and guided me through the rut. I am now much better positioned in writing my dissertation paper and getting my doctoral degree!
I was not aware what sort of things actually needed to be added in the research proposal and my college advisor was also not that clear. However, to my surprise the New Zealand based research proposal writer of HwA added so many important things like a brief review of literature, data collection method etc in my research proposal that not only I got an A+ grade but my paper is now showcased as a model paper in my college. Made me super proud.
Believe it or not I used to get C or D in my chemical engineering assignments. So when the chapters of distillation came I was really worried. But with the help of HwA, I started getting a B or an A. Then gradually when it came to the kinetics of solids, I passed with straight “Aâ€s"

Hello Allison,I love the 2nd image that you did! I also, had never heard of SumoPaint, is something that I will have to exolpre a bit! I understand completely the 52 (or so) youtube videos that you probably watched. Sometimes they have what you want, sometimes they don't! However, it is always satisfying when you are able to produce something that you have taught yourself. Great job!Debra 0 likes
