Question
A concentrated acid is to be added continuously to a steady inlet flow of 400 cm2/s of liquor in a well-stirred tank of a volume 0.1m3. The acid, of concentration 300 kg/m3, flows through a control valve into the mixing vessel. The concentration of acid in the liquor leaving the vessel is to be 12 kg/m3, and this is measured along a pipe with a time delay of 20 seconds.
