In this question, you will be using the following menus in SPSS:

  • Analyze…Compare Means…One-Way ANOVA…

Part 1: Use the bodyfat.sav file to perform the following analyses.

1. Using the compare means menu, perform a paired samples t-test to determine whether the 2 methods for determining percent fat were significantly different (variables: fatpct1 & fatpct2).

2. Create a new variable called agecat2 that designates those who are 40 and younger as 1 and those who are over 40 as 2. Perform an independent-samples t-test to determine whether these groups are different in their percent fat (method 1).

3. Create a new variable called agecat3 that designates those who are 39 and younger as 1, those who are 40 up to 50 as 2, and those who are 50 over as 3. Perform a one-way ANOVA to determine whether these groups are different in their percent fat (method 1). Click on Post Hoc and check Tukey.
