Question

A beam of length 8m is simply supported at its end as shown in figure. The whole beam carries a Uniformly Distributed Load(UDL) of 10 kN/m together with two point loads of 120 kN and 80 kN. The 120 kN load is at a distance of 2.5m from the left-hand support and the 80kN load is at a distance of 2m from the right-hand support.

(i) Calculate the reactions at the supports.

(ii) Draw the shear force(SF) diagram with the values marked at the turning points.

(iii) Draw the bending moment(BM)diagram with the values marked at the turning points.

Summary

The question belongs to Physics and it discusses about calculating the reaction at supports for a beam supporting uniformly distributed weights.
